Forced Biological Beta-Testing: The State’s War on Healthy Light

The Great Flicker: Why the State Is Killing the Analog Glow

The federal government has officially set the date for the final execution of the analog bulb. According to the Department of Energy’s latest ruling, by July 25, 2028, the efficiency floor for General Service Lamps (GSLs) will be jacked up to a staggering 120 lumens per watt. While the mainstream media paints this as a win for “efficiency” and “household savings,” those of us in the biohacking community recognize it for what it truly is: a forced transition into a high-flicker, blue-light-saturated environment that serves the state’s agenda, at the expense of your biology.

A Century of Safety vs. Unfiltered Beta-Testing

For over 140 years, the incandescent bulb was the gold standard for indoor illumination. It didn’t just provide light; it provided a biological match for the sun. Incandescents produce light through heat—a natural, full-spectrum infrared glow that supports mitochondrial health and respects our circadian rhythms.

In contrast, the LED “revolution” is a massive, population-wide experiment. While LEDs have existed for decades, we have zero long-term data on the health effects of chronic, 24/7 exposure to their narrow-band, blue-spiked spectrum. Despite this lack of safety research, and with studies increasingly showing the potential for retinal damage and endocrine disruption, the mandates are steaming forward. We are being forced to trade a century of proven biological safety for “energy savings” that may come at a massive cost to our cellular health.

The Human Timeline and Biological Experimentation

Anytime new technology comes on the scene, it’s instantly a biological experiment. Some of these experiments work out just fine, but most turned out to be detrimental to human health. We lucked out with incandescents. That was an experiment that worked out well. It gave us light that was natural enough to not damage our health. It didn’t help our health, but it didn’t damage it.

Before incandescents, we had candles and lanterns. Flame emits full-spectrum light, which, since it is natural, has a spectrum resembling sunlight (albeit without UV). Incandescent bulbs have the same spectrum since the filament inside is very hot, making it a “flame” of sorts.

The only problem with the invention of incandescent bulbs is, it made light more prevalent and abundant, so people lit their dwellings brighter and longer than before, which started to interrupt circadian rhythms, but not to an extent that it lead to a major health impact.

If you look at the human timeline, a century is barely a blip. LED lights have only been popular since 2015. That was 11 years ago, at the writing of this post. 11 years on the human timeline isn’t even a visible pixel, so we have no idea what the long-term effects of this new technology will be. No one has bothered to test it, but the government has mandated it, starting in May 2022, when the DOE officially passed the 45-lumen-per-watt limit for lighting. Since traditional incandescents only produce about 15 lumens per watt, this was a death sentence for nearly all remaining analog bulbs. Then, in August 2023, Full enforcement began. It became illegal to manufacture or import any bulb that didn’t meet the 45-lumen threshold. This is when local stores were forced to purge their inventories, leaving only LEDs.

But it gets worse. In April 2024, the DOE finalized the most aggressive mandate yet, effectively targeting the remaining non-LED options.

  • The 120-Lumen Standard: By July 25, 2028, all new bulbs must produce more than 120 lumens per watt.

  • The Death of the CFL: This rule is designed to kill off Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs), which usually max out at 60–70 lumens per watt.

  • The Forced Monopoly: Once this goes into effect, LED technology will be the only “legal” light source left, completing the transition into a mandatory, high-flicker digital environment.

The LED Bio-Hazard: Blue Light and Flicker

The “Investing in America” agenda is actually an investment in biological disruption. Here is the technical reality they won’t put in the press release:

  • Blue Light Toxicity: Most mass-produced LEDs are “blue-pumped” diodes. This spike in blue light at night inhibits melatonin production and signals to your brain that it is midday, crushing your sleep quality and accelerating your biological age.

  • The Flicker Effect: Unlike the steady, heated filament of an incandescent, LEDs operate on high-frequency switching. Even if you can’t “see” it, your nervous system perceives this constant strobe—a hidden stressor contributing to eye strain, headaches, and elevated cortisol. Strobing light has been shown to cause nervous system disruption, even leading to seizures; hence the warning you have probably noticed at the beginning of movies that use flickering or strobing lights.

  • Mitochondrial Stress: Emerging research suggests that the lack of near-infrared light in LEDs—wavelengths that are abundant in incandescents—can actually impair mitochondrial function and slow down cellular repair.

The Retail Purge and the Death of Choice

If you’ve walked into a hardware store lately, you’ve seen the “lightbulb graveyard”—aisle after aisle of plastic-sheathed LEDs and empty hooks. Since the DOE’s 45-lumen-per-watt “backstop” went into effect in August 2023, retailers have been prohibited from selling non-compliant bulbs. Big-box stores have scrubbed their inventory to avoid federal fines, leaving you with zero local options for biological lighting.

For now, you can still order incandescent bulbs online, so do it while you can because after 2028, you won’t have a choice anymore. Our freedom will soon be relegated to the digital underground. Biohackers will be forced to hunt through specialty online liquidators or eBay for “New Old Stock” (NOS) just to find a bulb that doesn’t pulse.

“Specialty” loopholes—oven bulbs and rough-service filaments— still exist, but the 2028 update is designed to close these gaps, tripling the efficiency requirement and making even these “exempt” sources effectively illegal to manufacture or import for general use. This is a systematic strangulation of consumer choice and a direct limitation on our freedom to curate our own environment.

Reclaiming Your Sovereignty

As a Christian and a biohacker, I view the stewardship of my body as a divine responsibility that supersedes federal mandates. The state is moving us toward a future where every light source in your home is a digital device—potentially integrated into “smart” grids you don’t control.

The government is regulating the manufacture and import, not your private property. They want to decouple our biology from the natural frequencies of light that humans have thrived under for millennia. If you value your mitochondrial function and your personal sovereignty, the time to secure your analog light supply is now, before the digital transition is total.

P.S. Fluorescent lights have also been shown to be harmful (click here for more info), also due to their narrower spectrum and flicker, but not to the extent of LEDs. You would think that, since we have known this for decades, the government would have enough sense to avoid mandating something even more harmful into our private lives, but they do have a history of forcing the population into many things that seem suspicious at best, and intentionally nefarious at worst.
