Did you know that MRSA has killed more people than AIDS? Did you also know that MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) is man made?
According to Dr. Mercola:
Animals in factory farms are given doses of antibiotics — both to keep them alive in stressful, unsanitary conditions, and to make them grow faster. The practice leads to new strains of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, such as the now-widespread form of staph (MRSA) known as ST398.
Federal regulators have in the past refused to release estimates of just how much antibiotics the livestock industry uses. But recently the FDA released its first-ever report on the topic. And the amount? Twenty-nine million pounds of antibiotics in 2009 alone.
According to Grist:
“[T]he Animal Health Institute, a veterinary-drug trade group, estimated total use in livestock at 17.8 million pounds. The industry has been clinging to that number ever since … [T]he industry figure is woefully off — about 40 percent lower than the real one.”According to Grist:
Here’s the bottom line: God created cows to roam around and eat grass. In man’s effort to get more for less, some moron had the bright idea to feed his cattle grain and/or corn instead. This made his cows sick, so instead of getting smarter by learning from the experience and thinking, “Hmmm, I guess I should put them back on grass,” he got dumber and thought, “Gosh, I’d better put them on antibiotics because this crap I’m feeding them is making them really super sick.” Then he got even dumber yet and brought them in off the pasture (which he didn’t need anymore) and couped them up in little tiny indoor unsanitary pens. Does this make sense to you?
Now we are messing with the genetics of our produce. Genetically modified (GMO) foods are already banned in some European countries because of research and evidence that this is another REALLY bad idea man came up with. Most of this research however, gets squashed and censored in the US because multi-billion dollar companies like Monsanto wouldn’t be around if we all knew the truth.
The solution? Eat clean organic meats and organic veggies. Local organic farmers are the best, so be sure to frequent your local farmer’s markets or subscribe to home delivery services that support local organic farmers like www.spud.com.
100 years ago, meat and veggies were all organic. That was the norm. Now we have to pay a premium for food that man hasn’t screwed up. Is paying that premium worth it to you? What is a longer life worth? How much would you pay to avoid cancer and other major terminal and debilitating diseases? If it’s not worth it to you, how about your kids? Is it worth it to passify them by letting them have the processed foods and corn chips (made from GMO corn) they are addicted to?
“Food” for thought…
