I am not sure if you remember the first time we sat down and you asked what my goals are. Obviously, my health, my weight, etc. I want to improve all of that, but I mentioned to you that I wanted to feel strong and do things like get back on a snowboard.
In 2010, I had a series of complex surgeries including bilateral mastectomies, complete hysterectomy, breast reconstruction using tissue from my abdomen. This affected my arm muscles, my chest muscles and certainly my abs with the abdominal surgeries and transplanted tissue. After a number of follow up cosmetic procedures to complete everything, I have never felt right since.
I committed to trying to get active again, only to tear my hip labrum and find I have hip issues. It was a year of PT before they finally did surgery. It has been a year + since that surgery.
I came into xgym after searching online for a local personal trainer in west seattle. I was depressed, agitated, in pain all the time, and seeking solutions. I emailed and JR set me up for the free session, and explained I had never had a trainer. He said that he really liked challenge clients, so I was in the door.
I met with Clayton who took me through the first workout and I signed up that day…he has been great to me every single time. I mostly have seen Clayton or Stephanie at the times I come in. They were even able to fit me in when I screwed up my appointment time this past Saturday. I have worked out with Teal once, which I also loved. She told me that I’d found my gym.
Anyway, getting to my point here…I still get nervous every time I come into a workout, just because, I guess…but I know that I am stronger and this is working for me! When I met with you the first time, you told me that I’d be back on a snowboard. I have now achieved this goal, and got on a snowboard yesterday! I took my 12 year old to Stevens Pass for his first snowboard lesson. I was on the fence about joining in on the lesson, but Stephanie and Clayton had told me I could do it, so I did!!!!!! We spent 5 hours hiking up and down the bunny hill while he learned. I boarded, and fell, and didn’t break. I had more stamina than I did when I rode 8 years or so ago. Before, I would be good for half of a day at best, and pay for it for 3 days after. Today, after working all day on the mountain, I am barely able to feel that I did anything out of the ordinary.
